Get judges scoring in seconds
Judges don't need accounts, training, or an app install. They scan a QR code (or open a link), enter the competition passcode, pick their station, and start scoring. This page covers passcodes, devices, offline scoring, and the safety features that prevent mistakes.
Passcodes and QR scan-and-go
- 1Judge scans the competition QR code at /c/[compId]/qr or opens the direct judge link.
- 2Judge enters the competition passcode on the judge page (/boulder/judge, /speed/judge, or /lead/judge).
- 3Judge selects their station (competition, category, round, and route) and begins scoring.
Lost or leaked passcode?
You can rotate the passcode at any time from the discipline setup page. If you change it mid-event, judges will simply enter the new code on their next save. No other action is needed.
Device setup
Charge & secure
Bring fully charged devices. Disable auto-lock if practical, and keep a spare charged device ready for any judge who drops theirs or runs out of battery.
Station assignment
Assign each judge to a specific station before warm-up ends. Have them open their judge page and complete one test save per device to confirm connectivity and touch targets.
Offline scoring
Tip
Run a quick offline drill before the event. Have each judge turn off Wi-Fi, save an attempt, turn Wi-Fi back on, and confirm the offline indicator clears back to Connected. This builds trust on the day.
Safety features that prevent mistakes
Auto-unselect after save
The selected athlete clears automatically after every save. This forces you to deliberately pick the next climber, preventing accidental double-saves or wrong-athlete entries.
Station-change confirmation
Changing the competition, category, round, or route triggers a confirmation dialog. This stops you from accidentally scoring against the wrong route or discipline.
Vibration feedback
The timer buzzes a short pulse at 10 seconds, a longer pulse at 5 seconds, and a sustained pattern when time is up. You feel the countdown without staring at the clock, keeping your eyes on the climber.
Aggregated attempt view
Each athlete shows a running best-symbol summary (top wins, then zone, then attempt count). You can verify what's recorded at a glance without leaving the page.
Briefing your judges
- 1Your station is [Station Name]. The passcode is [Passcode].
- 2Enter your score and tap Save. The athlete will clear automatically.
- 3If you mis-tap, tap the back arrow to undo the last attempt before saving again.
- 4If the screen freezes or shows a sync error, keep scoring. Do not refresh the page.
- 5If a device fails completely, write scores on paper and hand them to the chief. We will enter them later.
